Description |
Clump-forming, perennial herb with a thick vertical rhizome. Leaves all basal divided to the base into 5-11 overlapping, obovate leaflets, each deeply lobed at the apex, obtuse, grey-green above and below, hairless, lobes often somewhat folded the leaflets thus held in several planes; petioles 50-80 mm long, very pale green with minute reddish streaks. Flowers all basal, numerous, held in a central mass surrounded by most of the leaves, pedicels ca. 70 mm long, erect, very pale green, minutely streaked reddish below a long - cilate, green, bi-lobed bracteole, solid pale reddish above and up to the calyx; pedicel above the bracteole with sparse, long eglandular hairs (spreading or even deflexed at base, then abruptly curved upwards) and a very few, very short, gland-tipped hairs. Sepals 11-11,5 × 2-2,5 mm erect, green with a hyaline, long ciliate margin (and a few very short, gland-tipped hairs), appressed to the petal bases. Flowers broadly funnel-shaped, ca. 40-45 mm wide; petals erect below, spreading above, ca. 34-35 × 15,5-17 mm, essentially obovate but apex uneven and very shallowly and eccentrically lobed, white above and conspicuous yellowish green veins on lower 1/3; lower surface of petals white, with greenish veining in basal part, the colour slightly suffused up one side (the shorter side) of the petal; anthers less than 1 mm long, yellow; styles pale green, very slightly flushed red, with long eglandular and short gland-tipped hairs; stigmas capitate, strongly papillate green. |
