Description |
Medium-sized flowers with equal, narrowly obovate segments, c. 40 x15mm. These are pure sparkling white, enhanced at the apex by a serrated, v-shaped embellishment of bright violet 88A/B, visible on bothe surfaces. The bases of the external segments are marked with 3 purple veins, a feature more faintly echoed on the inner set. The white perianth tube is very lightly veined purple and is almost fully sheated by a well-developed silvery bract. The flowers average 6.5 cm tall and have a diameter of c.6 cm when fully open. The filaments are white, the anthers yellow, with a colourless connective. The style, which considerably overtops the anthers, is bright orange and has 3 clavate branches, much frilled and divided at apex. The bright green foliage (scarcely developed at anthesis) comprises three erect leaves 2.5 mm wide with well-defined median line. |
