Large flowered form of nivalis L. Leaves semi-erect, 5 x 1 cm, glaucous, margins often flat, at most one per leaf can be narrowly explicative, apex flat to slightly hooded. Scape (obe to) two, 12 cm. Outer segments 28.5 mm, l:w approx. 3:2, base unguiculate, apex bluntly pointed. Inner segments l:w approx. 7:5; sinus equilateral, small; mark on apical 1/3 a U of uniform wodth, arm-ends rounded. Ovary ovoid, with noticeable constriction at junction with segments, l:w 4:3. Very late flowering with pure white outer segments of strong substance, inner segments with a horse-shoe shaped apical mach, usually 2 flower-scapes to each bulb. |
