Description |
Sturdy stems to 26 cm, bearing one or two pendent flowers about 4 cm long, with round-tipped, oblanceolate to obvate tepals, 2.5 cm wide, straight-side from the pronounced 'shoulder' down to the tip, rather rthan flared in the way of so many of the genus. Lightly chequred, the outer segments are coloured dark red (187A); the interior of the bell is green with purple markings. The green, ovate nectaries nestle at the base of the tepals, near to the point where they angle to form the bell's shoulder; the style is trifid and bears creamy pollen. The leaves, up to 14 x 1.7 cm, are alternate at the base and to halfway up the stem; the three uppermost ones, however, are both shorter and narrower, forming a whorld below the flower. |
