Description |
Obtuse perianth segments subequal, the other ones measuring 30 × 8 mm and the inners 26 × 9 mm. The inner surfaces of both sets are ivory-white, becoming slightly more creamy towards the base. The throat is violet 79A, this coloration extending for c. 4 mm onto the segments, with a feathered margin. The exteriors of the inner segments are ivory-white, stained violet at the base; those of the outers are similarly ivory-white, overlaid with fine violet striations, becoming more densely marked towards the tips. A slight fragrance is noticeable at close quarters. The yellow anthers are densely covered with yellow pollen; the filaments and connectives are colourless. The slender, pale yellow style is divided into three slightly expanded, papillose branches and is equal to, or slightly longer than the anthers. The papery white bract extends to the base of the segments. Mature corms often measure 15-20 mm in diameter and can produce two flowers apiece. The 10 or 11 leaves are well-developed at anthesis, equalling the height of the flowers and measuring 1.5 × 50 mm, with a spreading habit. |
