Perenn. herb or subshrub to 9 m. Stems, woody, branched above, glaucous, green or tinged red. Lvs to 60 cm, 2-3-pinnate; seg. to 40 cm, to 15, ovate to elliptic, acute to acuminate, base tapered or round, margin dentate, pubesc. above, pale with villous veins beneath, petioles to 25 cm, bases cupulate. Capitula numerous in clusters, erect or nodding; outer phyllaries pubesc., inner elliptic or ovate, brown, margins translucent; ray florets, yellow, apex occasionally red apex. Autumn-winter. |
