Inside strong purplish red (59D) on a pale yellow-green (155A) ground, each petal with a spot of pale yellowgreen (155A) above the nectary, and brilliant yellow (12B) extending from the nectary to this spot; outside strong purplish red (59D) on a pale yellow-green (155A) ground, stronger-coloured towards petal margins; spots near nectaries, dark red (187A); papillae near nectaries, hairy or speckled; nectaries same colour as petals, hairy; pollen strong reddish orange (169A); stigma light orange-yellow (22D) with dark red (187B) hair. Fls 140 mm wide; petals 80 x 32.5 mm, margins smooth, tips scarcely recurved. Lvs 90 x 15 mm, mid green. Stems 0.85 m, mid green with some reddish markings, with c.7 fls. Midseason to late. |
